A busy August 2017 for Rotary Volunteers

The Rotary Club of Bowen Island at the Bowen Island Recycling Depot (BIRD)

This is the first  year that Bowen Rotary has been offered time on the volunteer schedule at BIRD. There are 13 days, from July 28 to August 17, each with 4 shifts to be filled by Rotary volunteers. The work of the volunteers is in the section for sorting the returnable bottles and cans. This raises much needed funds for Bowen Rotary Projects.

Run for Rwanda

Early in the morning of August 26th, the day of Bowfest 2017, Rotary manages the Run for Rwanda. This annual event raises money for Komera Canada, a program that supports the education of young girls in Rwanda.

As the Run for Rwanda is proceeding, other volunteers will be setting up a tent in the Bowfest field. Have you ever wondered about how Rotary functions and what the Bowen Island Club is all about? Be sure to drop by our tent at Bowfest and talk to our members.
